KUBOTA CANADA - MARKHAM, ONTARIO

This is the first catheter lab of its kind in Canada. Working in conjunction with Dunlop Farrow Architects, it was our goal to create a catheter lab that allowed a patient to have treatment in one room while the medical staff was preparing another patient in the other room.

To achieve this there were two, fully lead lined, electrically operated partitions were installed on either side of the catheter arm. As the arm swings around to be used on the one side, the partition moves across the opening to create a second room. When the next patient is ready and the first one is finished the partition opens up letting the arm swing to the other side and the second partition closes off the previous opening. To prevent damage to the swing arm a photoelectric eye was installed to monitor the operation of the operable walls.
